November Specials: Week 3: Featuring Engineering

Hi, I’m back, with a new video new post for November specials and this time the Lady ventures into the Lair of Engineering, in search of her new student models for November Specials: Engineering Week!

This is actually a sequel to my n o v e m b e r h u n t (Check out CASS Specials if you haven’t :) and next week the Lady will be concluding her three part series with a final academic school from SP

(。´∀`)ノ

*Post will be split into two sections where the Lady will be discussing on both Fashion and Social Media (#spsocialmedia)

When I share with people that my upcoming post will be featuring fashionable engineering students who really do bother to dress for school, they’d be like

And then they wink and say . . .
"I wish you the best of luck"

1 million light years later

And so challenge accepted, the Lady made her way to the wonderful Lair of Engineering, which really, I call it Narnia, because it's so hard to find my way around a place away from hilltooooooop D:

Thanks to all the warm response and enthusiastic feedbacks from my readers for the past two posts,  the Lady is motivated to discover the gems in the haystack and this time round, I'm proud to present to you my two fashionable student models of the week: Featuring Engineering!

FOR THE GIRLS

Jelynn, 19 - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Year 2

Items (From Top to Bottom)

1. Sleeveless Floral Tank Top: UNIQLO
2. Bracelets: SIX6, Bugis Plus, Bugis Village
3. Faded Denim Jeans: Cotton On
4. Flats: SCAPE Flea Market

Favorite Apparel Brand

“Pull&Bear! There’s just something about those prints
on their shirts and hoodies that’s so attractive!”

Favorite Shopping Haunts

1.    H&M
2.    Bugis Village (Retunes)
*Do check out Retunes if high waist shorts top your fashion list!

“I really can’t associate myself with girly stuffs!” 19 year old Jelynn Chua chirps excitedly when questioned about her fashion style. It’s no wonder that the girl with a love for “High Waist Shorts and anything punk rock” counts Naomi Neo, a famous local blogger, as her #NUMBERONE fashion inspiration.

BRACELETS ARE A MUST
“I see things, I like things, and I buy things. Easy as that. Comfortable and pretty clothes encourages me to frequent those outlets more often.”

With a monthly shopping budget of $200-$300, Jelynn is practically the shopaholic friend that all girlfriends would love to have! (。’▽’。)♡

Indulging in shopping buys on both online blogshops and physical stores, she adds in an animated and amused tone that she really does have the kiasu Singaporean Must faster chope spirit by placing her orders on stocks that she knows are selling out fast online.

“Just in case the top that I’m eyeing on is ordered by other girls you know!”

Haha admit it girls. WE ALL ARE THE SAME WHEN IT COMES TO SHOPPING *winks*

Tips for the readers: A smile on your face will never fail to make you look a million times greater!

Contrary to our Engineering student model's usually composed and cool demeanor, Lady is surprised to learn of her drawing talents! Now someone please usher in the artist already :D

Yes, all s e l f d r a w n :O
. . . . . . . . Impressed Level: Over 9,000

Hey look, that's what we call a versatile engineering student model ;)

SOCIAL MEDIA

Jelynn, the girl with a big heart for all things Disney counts Facebook, Twitter and Instagram her daily go-to social media websites.

Time spent for individual sites:

Facebook: Less than an hour

Instagram: Log in, browse, leave.
"You mean I can log on to Instagram on my laptop?" asked the wide-eyed girl who apparently doesn't spend time 'socializing' with her laptop haha!

Twitter: Once in a blue moon

Do you think followers or number of friends on i.e Facebook/Twitter matter?

: Hmmm, it matters only because it allows engagement for myself and users. With more followers/friends online, it gives me the assurance that someone is bound to view the content that I upload and that motivates me to update more frequently. (#spsocialmedia)

Check out her Chip&Dale drawing on Instagram people!

How do you feel about people using automobiles (flashy cars) as their profile pictures on online social platforms?
i.e Facebook

: It's either they are boasting about their wealth or they really do like their cars (lol). I only accept people that I know. So even if it’s an acquaintance with the car for a display photo, I will accept him/her. Otherwise, I wouldn't be interested to accept such requests."

FOR THE GUYS

Haokang, 18, Diploma in Electrical Electronic Engineering, Year 2

Items

1.    Army green sweater: ZARA
2.    Shorts: Bugis Village
3.    Shoes: Converse

Favorite Apparel Brand
GIVENCHY

Favorite Shopping Haunts

1.    ZARA, Converse
2.    Haji Lane
3.    Online blogshops

18 year old Haokang really isn’t your typical Engineering kid. For one, his hairstyle speaks for itself.

When probed about his interesting hairdo (which probably just distracts me from anything else), he says in a light and humble tone, “I’ve always wanted to try something new and old school. Likewise for my dressing, I opt for something nice, something unique, just not too loud."

Alright, just for a while you fashionable mushroom haired boy (^_−)
I shall leave you (and your hair) alone :D

“I’m always on the look out for nice clothes. I prefer clothes that are imported. Sweaters gotta be the best fashion statement ever.”

With a laidback and easygoing personality, Haokang is a lovely audience to interview. Quoting Lookbook* as his Fashion Inspiration, he spends his leisure time checking out clothes on fashion websites, well at least when he’s not busy hanging out with his buddies!!

Would you rather stand out from the crowd or be part of it?

“Stand out,” he replies good-naturedly and the Lady really isn’t surprised. “I hate following trends. I would rather be unique and different from those who are just contented to be part of a trend.”

Tips for the Readers: Just wear what you like and ignore what the others say

SOCIAL MEDIA

What are some social media websites that you are on daily?

Facebook, Youtube, Lookbook

How long do you usually spent camping online?
Facebook: 4-5 hours per day

Youtube: 1 hour  “To watch music videos and comedies like Mr Bean.”

Lookbook: 15 minutes before coming to school daily. “It inspires me; the way people dress and that gives me ideas to mix and match my attire.” (#spsocialmedia)

Do you think social media makes people more antisocial?

: Yes. They would be on their phones instead of talking to the people in the same room. I mean, humans are alive and breathing but your phone's . . . just a gadget, yeah? (#spsocialmedia)

If you accidentally ‘stalk’ a person online (whom you’re not close with) and realize some things about him/her that are more personal and they share it on social media (i.e I broke up with my boyfriend) does it affect the way you see/treat them in real life?

: I won’t really judge the person so it doesn’t affect my perception unless it’s one of my close friends. I'll be concerned then.

ii. Would you rather they not tweet/post something so personal?

: I think they should not do it on social media platforms. Why would you want others to know anyway? (#spsocialmedia)
